No one buys Viajes anymore. They’re too popular.
Oh hush, just you wait and see what I’ve got in store. Until then this can hold us over:

which is almost never open. It doesn’t open until 9am on weekdays making is useless as a pre-work coffee meeting location. Other than that though, it is lovely!

I built both of mine myself. More fun.
Subby didn’t build either of his, and he has the sads.

Subby is too busy riding 600Ks to be bothered to build bikes.

it’s been a good year and now that i’ve actually written this down, I know why I’m (a) semi-injured (b) TIRED!
Can I get a sticker?
Now I feel like a total loser. Thanks Eric.
Seriously though. Huge props. Your riding this year has been phenomenal and inspiring to watch (Subby, note you can just WATCH Eric ride)!
Can’t wait to see what you have on-tap next!

I guess I’ve done four actual centuries so far this year as follows:
1. Goshen Pass Randonee. Highly recommended for next year.
https://www.strava.com/activities/5163893002. Kill Bill. Enough Said. May 30th.
https://www.strava.com/activities/5934464973. Friday Coffee ride then the long way home. Because why not. July 1
https://www.strava.com/activities/6268553404. Friday Wine and Gravel Hooky Ride: July 8.
https://www.strava.com/activities/634577685Lots of other 70-90 mile rides. Guess I should start turning those into centuries if I really want to get to 10.
I didn’t ride a single century in August as it was just too hot. I got close twice but cut them down to “short” 80-90 milers and just couldn’t motivate for those last few miles. September has been a little better though so let me add to this list.
5. Friday sunrise to sunset ride: https://www.strava.com/activities/706450357.
A little jaunt to, through the lovely gravel, and from Loudoun county with a winery or two thrown in for good measure. Friday’s are the best days.6. My first sub-six hour century courtesy of the Liscio and some strong pulls by Dirt, PeteD and TinaP. https://www.strava.com/activities/722488674.
Another great Friday Loudoun adventure. This time we actually stuck to (mostly) paved surfaces rather than gravel. Interesting for a change of pace but gravel is still my fav.September 13, 2016 at 4:21 pm in reply to: Four Mile Run Trail Closure Along South Glebe — Options #1057073KayakCyndiParticipant@ShawnoftheDread 145816 wrote:
It’s a great way to go if you have the legs for it. It’s a long, steep climb to 23rd.
I was thinking about this when I saw the closure notice. We’re gonna have to ride it again together as I can’t remember exactly how to do it.

The towpath has about the worst mud ever. Too much sand in it. Really is nasty stuff for the drive train, so I always go other routes.
Funny you mention that. Guess you are saying I need to clean my drive train after this morning’s 2x20s.

Not sure if being able to ride the C&O is worth it enough to get a seperate bike. Hmmmmm.
Not sure? That is just crazy talk. Of course the C&O is worth an n+1.

I’d be interested in what the difference is. I had always thought a gravel bike was a cross bike with knobby tires. Which is still a cross bike.
Geometry is the different between the two bikes. Gravel bikes tend to have longer chainstays and higher head tubes. Many have rack and fender mounts. They are made for all day (or multi-day) riding. A cyclocross bike, especially a higher end race oriented one, is typically going to have shorter chainstays, longer top tubes, lower bottom brackets for cornering and you’re lucky if it even has bottle mounts on it. All day comfort is sacrificed for speed. After all a cross race is usually an hour or less.
Take all that with a grain of salt as there are lots of “cyclocross” bikes that are less racy and more “gravel” style and there gravel bikes totally geared toward racing.
Best advice, go ride and see what you like!

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen subby attack a hill or two on his singlespeed (and dcv on his fixie). But yes, they are robots.

Both Oxford and 16th are among my favorites for that ride.
Disappointing. I was sure that was going to be a Kill Bill link!

Ha! Just went to CVS on Monday with Dave where I made him buy me some lovely black nail polish. He was perplexed since I never do do my nails until he realized it was touch up paint for the Viaje.

First question for Seth – Why? Such a nice bike. Almost new. Why are you selling?
Well he does already have the Ti Viaje. Oh, and I think he may have just gotten the deal of the century on something else swoopy but in plastic.
