It was closed at the bridges on Sunday, of course.

As I recall, we didn’t have a single snowfall with results last winter.

Or the previous 2011-2012 winter. I was celebrating not having had to blow or shovel snow two winters in a row……..then this winter more than made up for it.

The NovaCBG page shows the Saturday ride but no Sunday in the upcoming list.
    +1 on VG’s question.

Update: Sunday ride is now posted. Looks like I’ve got prohibitive house wrangling killing any chance for this one but thanks for the ljnk. Next weekend!

Great back up wheels for you guys who have a CX that want a second set so you can stop swapping between knobbies and roadies. Don’t be fooled by the few spokes, Rolf Vector Comps are proven tanks that can hang with Open Pros. For $40 it is a bargain.

Wow, my bad they are vector pros!!! Much better!

Great wheels, but have been discontinued since Trek dropped the Rolf license deal and partnered with Bontrager. The Rolf line is no longer supported, so parts are strictly eBay these day. Just something to keep in mind.

Dedicated GPS/cycling devices aka Garmin models are far simpler to use and more reliable than any smartphone. Still, most current Android models support Ant+ (with apps such as ipBike) to deliver equivalent data channels and displays. Where Garmin is “turn it on and go”, Android takes more care to set everything up and in my experience most phones have a much shorter battery life unless you are super careful to kill everything but the essentials.

Additional kudos to Megabeth and WABA! Great event!
Vicegrip and I rolled out for a few laps before the official start. Looking left across the river there was a strong squall line heading right for us. We both bailed, and headed back counter-race to the shelter of the tents just before it hit.
I left around 1PM, and will be back next year for sure.

I don’t feel knowledgeable enough to feel comfortable buying a bike off Craigslist. If I get used, it will be from a shop – where I have some confidence they have refurbished it, and decently, that there are no major issues, etc. The folks at Phoenix seemed trustworthy.

You’ve been looking for a while, so you probably have enough of a sense of value to at least keep your eye on CL. There are good honest deals to be had there, particularly if you are looking for a specific size and just a couple of specific models.
If you feel more secure with the idea of buying from an LBS with some recourse if there are problems, be sure that is what’s being offered.

Read that earlier this morning – great piece, and definitely a righteous commute.
WaPo is giving good space to cycling on a regular basis. Their lead piece on the Strava culture early this past summer was notable.

Reflective metal signs. Pop rivet them onto any frame material. Done. 😎

Bought my Scott on CL and seller was fine with showing the bike at his home. He also showed me the very spendy new euro carbon bike under a blanket in his SUV. Then later his wife tells me that he really wants this new bike but can’t buy it until he sells the Scott! I got a little more adventurous with my offer knowing that :-)

Its a big improvement. Rode it last night. Trail runs straight up to the new concrete curbing. Plenty of room and no more Crazy Ivan’s required. Niiice.

Progress! On Wednesday afternoon the new curb paving was open and it was possible to stop facing West completely on fresh asphalt. Looks like they’ve diverted the trail to the left since then but this is more progress that we’ve seen in several weeks. Belated bravo!

We see a LOT of video from people using our TrackVision software, mostly in-car race applications, but also karts, planes, boats etc. We also wind up using and testing lots of video cameras.
The GoPro is ubiquitous, but their packaging, reliabilty, and user interface doesn’t cut it for me [/opinion]
Contour is a great camera, but the form factor might be a little large for bike use, and its definitely not weather resistant.

Take a look at the Replay XD720 which is around $150 retail.
Perfect form factor, really nice sealed & weather resistant machined aluminum case, buttons with haptic feedback [vibrate when activated], and terrific video quality. I’ve had the XD1080 version in several race cars and they are rock solid.
The guys in CA who design the Replay series are uber obsessive with the little details that really make a difference. Its a nice piece.

    The bad one:
You: Guy in full team kit and helmet walking on MVT between 14thSt Bridge and Gravelly Pt who DIVED across the trail to the grass on the left just after I’d called a pass. No look, no hearing, no clue. Suspect he was focused on finding something he’s dropped off his bike.
Me: Locked up and in the grass.

    The good one:
Me: Four Mile Run and Walter Reed Intersection [kryptonite – had my first and only ‘unclip…fail…flop’ there. Crossing light green, I move off, clip in, and discover that the chain has dropped. Try to recover it, fail, and flop in the crossing with a locked chain.
You: Guy waiting at the crossing gets off his bike and comes over to help sort out my chain routing mess. Great stuff and much appreciated!!

I come through before 7 am, so I never see ongoing work, but I also can’t tell that anything has been done. I’ll take your word for it.

Tuesday mid-afternoon there was no sign of a crew there. Crickets, and congestion.
