There are all these “Peace Ride” signs on 4MRT, W&OD, Custis, and MVT. My biking buddy said they were there Saturday morning. We spotted them still there Sunday morning. They were there on my morning and evening commutes today. Wasn’t the ride Saturday? Aren’t the organizers supposed to remove them when done?

The “Mile 12” sign is still on the Custis as of 6:30 this morning… Not sure what the County’s requirements are regarding removing special event signage, but I have never seen signs linger for more than a couple of days in the past.

I tweeted at them, and others should too so they know leaving trash behind isn’t acceptable. I find it really frustrating when rides/runs don’t clean up within 24-48 hrs. The signs get blown around end up on the side of the trail or in the rivers as litter. It really makes the organization look like poor planners and thoughtless about their effect on others when they do stuff like that.

Just got an email from the peaceful folks.

“I removed all signage (mile markers and arrows) from mile 9-14 this morning and plan to remove the remaining signs tomorrow.”

See, they were getting around to it. They were probably just tired out from making all that peace.

Are they erasing the chalk marks as well? jk

There is a sign at the southern tip of the Hains Point loop.
