Down right before Lynn Street this morning there were a total of four cars on opposite sides of the street that were involved in accidents. A bit further down the trail there were an additional two cars pulled off right after the final Memorial Bridge/Parkway crossing. Was it the rain? Full moon? I just hope everyone is okay.

What an excellent rain commute tonight. Seriously! Once I got out of snarled downtown traffic, it was a great ride. Not too rainy to be soaking, not cold at all, not misty so my glasses didn’t get drizzled. Just a moderate Portland spit. To top it off, the Lob of favorable tailwinds was smiling on those of us going northbound — got a nice push and made good time once on the trails.

It had stopped raining by the time I headed out so I took a detour and visited the Xmas tree on the elipse. The tree itself is rather small and misshapen but the atmosphere is nice, esp the view of the WH with its own Xmas trees in every window. There is also a surprise open pit containing burning wood at one end of the display and Santa’s workshop to walk thru.

Saw three separate instances of a car spun out this morning. One near Greenbelt Metro drive (the worst intersection in the galaxy), one where Rhode Island Ave intersects Armentrout Road, and one in NE DC.
