I got a Park 4th Hand Tool and now I want to go home and adjust all the brakes in the house. Except the rad new hydraulics on the Xtracycle.

I bought myself a pair of custom wheels with obnoxiously loud hubs. Does that count?

The hubs are loud? Bad bearings?

    Hopes (the new Pro 4s).

Squirrels, bunnies, deer and pedestrians will flee as I approach. No more shouts of “onyerleft!”: I’ll just coast.

A tea towel with a picture of a fixie and a bicycle web belt to wear with my cycling knicker/plus four/capri pants/long shorts. Oh yeah, someone else paid for the Pugsley and the 45nrth studded Dilinger 4 tires! :D

Hope (Pro 2s in my case) are really fantastic for this. I just freewheel as I approach people and typically they indicate they hear me before I use the bell or call out.

I have the trials hub (SS) on my mtb and it is even louder, actually is a little embarrassing in races. Not sure how either compare to the Pro4. Typically the hubs can be quieted by changing the viscosity of the oil.

Speaking of which, I just ordered myself a nicely discounted ($168) Hope Pro 2 rear hub to complete some wheels for a new geared hardtail MTB project this winter. Bye bye, single-speed; it has been tons of fun but a more versatile option makes more sense filling the MTB slot in the rack.

So, I take it loud hubs are good…. All those times I have heard loud hubs buzzing around I never thought it was a plus.
