Not sure whether I have bad food poisoning, or a virulent virus. But I can’t leave the house. And my Internet at the house went down.

My suggestion is that we use this thread to discuss possible team names. And then I’ll set up the Strava club as soon as I can, using the new name.

Sorry I can’t do better by you guys right now!

Edit: LhasaCM set up our club–thanks! Please join at https://www.strava.com/clubs/CasualSix

And if you’re not sure whether you’re on this team (in spite of my PMs, e-mails, and Strava messages), here’s the list:

    BeeTinDC
    bikenurse
    cvcalhoun
    DanaWise
    Joepmc
    JohnMilne
    LhasaCM
    MaryEllsworth
    Mtansill

Likewise – hope you can get well soon. And get Internet back.

Since I wasn’t able to make it to the happy hour, and depending on where folks are may not get to make a formal in person introduction, I may as well introduce myself a bit here (so folks don’t have to piece it together from the handful of posts I’ve had here). As noted in my 2017 Bike Goals post (http://bikearlingtonforum.com/showthread.php?11407-2017-Biking-Goals&p=151852#post151852) and the follow-on conversation before it was derailed by the oddities of Federal transit subsidy distributions, I’m a short-ish distance bike commuter (just over 5 miles round trip) with a trailercycle that is occupied for half of that commute. Therefore, as I’m not a “high volume” rider, I won’t be of much help in racking up big points (my goal is consistency), though I hope to at least meet or exceed my expectations from when I first signed up for this. For stalking purposes, I’m Chris M on the leaderboard (https://www.strava.com/athletes/12125159 on Strava) – I think my Strava heatmap is basically the MBT between Union Station and Brookland, with the occasion diversion.

In addition to not being a high mileage rider, I’m also terrible at coming up with clever team names. I can sometimes help improve good ideas to make them very good, but even that is usually beyond my capabilities. However, in the interest of kicking things off, I thought I may as well share what came to mind with the number six:

    * Six Degrees of Separation Below Freezing
    * Six Bikeways on Sunday (play off of six ways to Sunday)
    * Central Park Loop (a full lap around Central Park in NYC is just over 6 miles)
    * Small and Perfect (6 is the smallest perfect number – meaning it is the smallest number where the sum and product of its factors are the number)

I like the name small and perfect. or just perfect 6.I wear size 6 gloves and shoes, so the moniker is pretty perfect IMHO.
I’m bikenurse AKA Laurie. I will ride everyday as is possible. Jeff/Greenbelt and I are going to Costa Rica for 2 weeks 1/21-2/5. The first week is mountain biking in the interior (“sweating saddles”), so no problem with riding then. Provided I survive a week of mountain biking (I’m a terrible mountain biker), the second week is lowland remote jungle, beach, scuba. Hopefully I can scare up a bike somewhere. If not, I will try to make up miles when I get back. I will do my best to keep up with Greenbelt (on the dreaded team 7) while on vacation. BTW – I live in Greenbelt and know how to get around to most places, so will be happy to organize some rides/meet ups. I like to ride for food, coffee, beer, sweets, so feel free to make some suggestions for meet up spots.

    Carol: feel better soon!!

Bikenurse, during the second part of that vacation, if you can only scare up a single bike, I think it would be best to let Greenbelt have it. There’s no need to go out of your way to get a few extra points :p

I disagree. I think it would be the fair and chivalrous thing for Greenbelt to defer to bikenurse. Such a noble act would be a sign of great strength and courage, so desperately needed in these times. Think of the children.

“Got your Six” – which means “Got your back”
“Big Dumb Six” (Big Dumb Sex by Soundgarden)
“Blood, six, and booze” (Blood, sex and booze by Green Day)
    “Casual Six”
“I want to Six you up”
“I want your six” (I want your sex by George Michael)
“I just had six” (I just had sex by Lonely Island) – YouTube this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQlIhraqL7o

Okay… I’m done as of the last one. That video is so amusing – warning – adult content. Lol.

OK – based on Sunyata’s post on the team assignment post (about it having been more than 36 hours and folks need to hunt down their team members), I went ahead and created a Strava club for us to get grouped appropriately. Hopefully I’m not acting out of turn…

    Thanks, LhasaCM!

I’m now back on duty, so let’s get the team name worked out. What are the thoughts of the rest of the group on the team names that have been proposed?

:p I think you should stick to your own team thread! And I can wrestle Greenbelt for a bike…. (small but mighty)
