    Hello,

Does anyone have a bike to rent? Maybe you have a bike that collects dust?

I am asking for my friend, an exchange program participant from Kyrgyzstan. He rents a room in DC and needs a bike to commute around the city from now until Christmas.

Any bike good for commuting will do. If the bike needs minor repairs (chain cleaning and lubrication, flat tires), my friend and I will take care of that. We guarantee to return the bike in good condition.

    Thanks!

It might help to put the approximate size bike you need. :)

Also, not sure if they do long term rentals, but the Bike Lane in Reston just got a new fleet of rental bikes (most appear to be hybrids, which would be perfect for commuting).

For the duration, it might be cheaper to buy a low cost used bike instead. If you have time at the end of the stay, resale value should be fairly equivalent.

I got a 58 CM utility bike that is being retired that I’m happy to lend if it’s the right size. Comes with lots of stickers.

Hi Sunyata. Thank you for your prompt. He is 5’9, so I think 54 cm.

Ahh, so the perfect medium. I would check with Pheonix Bikes for a low cost used bike. Since he is a pretty common size, you will probably find something for less than what you might rent for.

Judd’s bike might work with some modifications, too.

It did, Sunyata. Many thanks to Judd for giving his bike to my friend.

Thank you to everyone who replied to my post. I appreciate that.
