I was trying to capture how pretty this highway is in terms of decorative elements being incorporated into the design. There are several around the city. Why can’t we have pretty highways? I did look up “Joe Battle” and it seems he’s some Texas highway administration guy.

So this roadway is a TEMPORARY roadway – They are upgrading one of the field at Thomas Jefferson Middle school in Arlington, and didn’t want the huge trucks to dig up the turf and mud, so they put down this temporary roadway between the street and the far field, plus a lot of gravel between the temp roadway and Irving Street for the heavy trucks. Once the field is upgraded, this temporary roadway will disappear.

Commonwealth Blvd in Fairfax. It uses a combination of sharrows and bike lanes. The sharrows and bike lanes change sides depending on the topography with bike lanes on the uphill sides. It is actually quite streamlined and works quite well.
