Alexandria, VirginiaGlad to see I’m not the only one who thinks of Ice Cream when I see the word ‘cone’. I was going to get an ice cream cone on my ride as a last resort. Glad I found Jimmie Cone. It was a chilly day for eating ice cream on a ride.

I was thinking of the ice cream cone, had the sign on Big Jerk Caribbean and Ice Cream on Main St in Nyack, NY, but instead went with the dilapidated conical roof on this structure (water intake?) in Tarrytown Reservoir. Also had the safety cones on the reconstruction of the South County (Westchester) Trailway.

Unless I drive down to Arlington, I will be a fail on 1/12, no Brood X this year in NYC.

This local high school was built BEFORE the Harry Potter books, so it predates Hogwarts! It’s so fanciful. I guess when you’re homecoming royalty here it really means something. And their mascot is, of course, the Knights.

Two cones for the price of one!
Wow! What an awesome HS.
I do recall when I drove through there a few years ago, they like fancy stuff. Even the Interstate bridges look sharp.
And, just curious have you ever driven the stretch of road from El Paso to Carlsbad, NM? There is a 100+ mile stretch of pretty much nothing. I’d highly suggest doing it if you haven’t. Going through the Guadalupe Mts. is amazing.

Does anyone know why I can’t ‘like’ this post? Is there some private option that won’t allow it?

You can see the cone on the back end of this whimsical work of insect art.

January 7, 2022 at 12:59 am #1115789NadineParticipantI find a few cones but then Kathy said cubes technically hace round bottoms, so that narrowed my choices.
I’m gonna go with these 2 cone topped birdfeeders across the street from her house.

I took a picture of an orange traffic cone (ho-hum). Then I saw the coolest conical trees!

They have square bottoms where I’m from.

Two cones: one at the top of the railing post and the other atop the light by this Little Free Library.

I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t find a cicada husk as a holiday decoration, so no loss on that one! LOL
January 7, 2022 at 2:28 am #1115803KbikevaParticipantAlan – yes, I’ve driven all over here. Finished HS here (not at the amazing castle). The highway art is indeed beautiful. I asked our FCDOT Director once why we can’t have pretty highways. He said that all of VA has to have what all of VA can have — so everyone gets the same mediocrity. So sad!
I also biked the Big Bend with Adventure Cycling in 2017 and recommend it. It’s an arduous trip but worth doing. Such a different landscape!
