Someone I was talking with at BTWD said that she had obtained an annual pass of some kind. She said it took a bit of perseverance. I wish I could remember who it was.

FYI: I biked through the fort without any difficulties on Sunday (6/12) using my non-DoD CAC ID.

I entered through the Wright gate (by the Netherlands Carillon) last evening to go to 3rd Thursday Happy Hour. I have a regular federal ID–not DoD. Did not ask to scan it. Waved right through, no issue.

Update: This morning, as I entered Hatfield Gate with my non-DOD federal ID, the guard handed me a form and directed me (and some other feds) to the ID office. The ID office issued me a scannable access card valid for 1 year. I didn’t have to provide any sponsor info, just my federal ID and drivers license.
Thanks Fort Myer!

I’m surprised since I went through the gate by the Sheraton last night and got waved through without comment (or form).

If you are interested in bicycle forums similar to the bikerlington forum you can read this post. They made a complete list of bicycle forums according to higher DA, PA and members. Check this out: http://http://bestbikesforwomen.com/top-21-bicycle-forums/

Updated: The article published in mid July is innacurate Henry Gate to reopen August 1 to military pedestrians and bicyclists.

This article published in early August clarifies the change does not allow bicycle access through the Enhanced Security Pedestrian Gate (ESPG) booth next to Henry Gate, nor does the change permit access via the ESPG to non-DoD AIE pass holders. Henry Gate remains closed to bicycles.

I’m non-DOD federal. I attempted to enter last night at Wright and was told that I could go through as a courtesy but that I should not be allowed to enter with my non-DOD federal ID. I have not had a problem entering at 2nd Street in the morning. I had read this webpage before trying Wright last night and thought I might still be able to enter with my federally-affiliated ID card but I guess that is not the case??

Being able to get in on 2nd Street matters significantly more to me, but I guess I don’t understand why I can get in one way in the morning but not the other way in the evening.

For the same reason that some park police at Hains Point will pull you over and berate your for running a stop sign at Hains Point and others will wave you through one.
