    Please join us for Third Thursday Happy Hour at the Westover Beer Garden for Bike-to-Work-Hungover Day’s Eve! If you kindly can let me know if you think you’ll be there so I can get a rough head count, that’d be fantastic. The manager is my neighbor, so we should be well taken care of.

    The Beer Garden (5863 Washington Blvd, 22205) is conveniently located just a couple of blocks off the Custis and W&OD trails, and within walking distance of the East Falls Church metro. Also, the 2-Series buses run right past, coming from either Ballston or EFC. And there’s even plenty of parking (bike and car) either on Washington, or in the parking lot in back…so basically, you have no excuse to miss it!

    Edit: I’ll try and be there around 5pm to get everything set up, but I imagine there will be plenty of folks there for the long haul, so late-comers needn’t worry.

    Weather report is looking iffy – the beer garden is not the greatest place to be in a thunderstorm. Is there a backup plan?

    They have umbrellas and canopies, but we can always walk across the street to Lost Dog if necessary.

    If this one is mine, txgoonie is welcome to the segment! I will be coming back from travel tomorrow and will have to miss the happy hour, so I am in no position to respond to the challenge.

    I don’t remember the circumstances under which I got it, but it’s my normal practice to stop at stop signs no matter what so there’s that.

    I’ll go out on the circa 1973 internal hub three speed later today and try to get a North Georgia segment to make up for it.

    30% chance of rain, isolated thunderstorms. Not too worried about it.

    I would like to come, but I’m not comfortable riding on the trails in the dark, so I might only be able to stay for one drink :/ (I’m coming from Old Town Alexandria.) It would be cool to meet the group, though! :)

    There’s a good chance someone will be available to escort you most of the way home – I tagged along with someone going the same direction from my first 2 happy hours because I didn’t really know the trails yet.

    Since I’m hosting and the beer garden is right by my house, I don’t have to worry about heading home at any certain time, so I’m happy to ride with you if no one else is going that way at the same time…so no need to worry about cutting the evening short.

    And eminva — I was just giving the gentlemen a hard time! I may hit the segment on the way to HH just to see what all the fuss is about, but you can be sure I’ll be stopping lest anyone pokes into my ride data :-P

    I’ll add that just in case you don’t have an escort for the ride home, you can always go west on Washington Boulevard to get to the East Falls Church Metro station. Getting home that way won’t be as fun, though :(

    Clearly you don’t care enough about biking or your forum friends. If you can’t make it back from Leesburg and then the quick ride out to us, you’re not trying hard enough. OR ride to Leesburg that morning (no big deal) so you can stop by on your way home! See?! SO many options. Quit complaining and take action! ;-)

    Leesburg is not in Arlington County, so you don’t have to go there for work, right?
