HELP INCREASE BICYCLE ACCESSABILIBY FOR D.C….JOIN OUR ADVISORY BOARD
Gearin’ Up Bicycles is working on providing access to quality used bicycles in Washington D.C. by selling refurbished donated used bicycles and providing employment opportunities for young adults in underserved communities. While working on obtaining the resources necessary to open a retail space in downtown D.C., Gearin’ Up is partnering with local organizations while engaging in various outreach events. Gearin’ Up is growing in all ways — the number of projects we’re working on, volunteer opportunities, and more.
The Board Selection Committee of the Gearin’ Up Bicycles is currently seeking applications from prospective Advisory Board Members who are willing to share their expertise with Gearin’ Up and help our organization grow.
We are seeking Advisory Board Members with experience in the following areas:
1. Fundraising and grant-writing
2. Legal issues
3. Accounting
4. Nonprofit and business management
5. Cycling industry experience
6. Underserved communities
Minimum Requirements:
• proven experience in your field
• interest and ability to be an ambassador for the Gearin’ Up
• a commitment to the Gearin’ Up, including time and flexibility to help grow the Gearin’ Up
• attendance at every other month Advisory Board meetings (held via teleconference), attendance at Gearin’ Up special events and committee/project meetings is preferred but not required
Time Commitment:
Advisory Board meetings are usually one hour or less every other month. We ask for an additional 2-5 hours/month to work on specific tasks or projects and to advise Executive Board Members. A small amount of your time and sharing your expertise can make a huge difference! We ask for a minimum of a 1 year service commitment. It is preferred that Advisory Board Members live in the D.C. area, but it is not necessary.
