Winter Bike to Work Day for #FS2019OOBcoffeeride #24. Hey, it counts if you’re retired and ride to have lunch at your wife’s office, right? After lunch I made a loop through Westend, Bockenheim, Hausen, Oberursel, Bad Homburg, and Kalbach. In Westend I stopped at Les Deux Messieurs for coffee and Apfelkuchen. A very international place, I heard Arabic, Spanish, French, German, English, and a Slavic language I couldn’t identify.

#FS2019OOBcoffeeride #25. I headed south for a change today for a loop to Rödermark and Messel. My target was the Weller Bäckerei & Konditorei in Messel but I did a loop through the town without seeing it. Then on my way out I realized it was attached to the back end of the Netto grocery. Just outside of Messel is a UNESCO World Heritage site for fossils, one of these days when I am riding by I rally should stop in.

#FS2019OOBcoffeeride #26. It’s been raining all day so I just got in a short ride. As wet as it was I left the camera at home, so no pictures of my coffee and Kirschstruessel at the Café Laumer in Westend.

I had really intended to get out for a longer ride than this, but we had a housing inspection this morning so I had to get up too early (yeah, I know, it $uck$ to be retired :p) and then I dozed off again. I stopped at the Aveirense Bäckerei, Café, & Portugese groceries in Heddernheim hoping for a Pastel de Nata to go with my coffee. No luck, but still had a tasty Portuguese pastry (some sort of sweet cheese filling).

#FS2019OOBcoffeeride #28. I rode out to Bad Homburg and spent a couple hours soaking in the warm Taunus Therme. At the end of the ride I stopped at Brot & Freunde on Marbachweg in Dornbusch for my coffee and a Cheddar & Jalapeño Schnecke.

#FS2019OOBcoffeeride #23. I didn’t roll out until early afternoon and by the time I stopped for my afternoon snack there wasn’t a lot of “pastry” choice at the Bäckerei Bär in Hammersbach. I settled for a Buttercroissant to go with my coffee,

I was supposed to have Valentines Day lunch with my wife, well that was a DNS due to her work. So I just had to go for #FS2019OOBcoffeeride #30 to make myself feel better. This was very similar to yesterday’s ride, but I stopped at the Philippi’s Backstube in Büdesheim for Café Crema and Butter Croissant Schoko.

Another BEAUTIFUL February day to ride and it’s supposed to stay like this for the 10 day extended forecast! For #FS2019OOBcoffeeride #31, I rode a variant of Frankfurt’s GrünGürtel with my semi-regular riding partner, another retired FSO. This time we stopped for lunch and coffee at the Coffee Shop & Bakery in Gravenburch, almost exactly at the half way point of the ride.

My two potential coffee stops were closed so I kept going and stopped at Berg Station in Huth Park, Seckbach for my coffee and Vanile-Schaume Kuchen. The crushed stone trails were very sloppy and there were still a couple icy spots in the shade.

#FS2019OOBcoffeeride #35. Rain in the morn cleared at lunch time so I headed out with my irregular riding partner for my Hausen-Oberursel-Bad Homburg-Harheim paved loop. I wanted to stop at Lok 21 in Bad Homburg located in a re-purposed train roundhouse, but they closed for a private function about 15 minutes before we got there. Instead we headed over to Bäckerei Flachs located on the Europakreisel in Bad Homburg, I had a Kirschpuddingplunder with my coffee. Sorry for the crappy pictures.

While my teameights are sleazing to the winter gunk, I got out for another lovely ride in Frankfurt, #FS2019OOBcoffeeride #36. According to Google Maps there’s supposed to be a Backhaus at Bornweg 20 in Nieder Erlenbach, but I’ve been by that address three times this week and can’t see it. I stopped at the Café Comet in Harheim instead and had a Laugencroissant with my coffee.

I was too tired to report in last night. #FS2019OOBcoffeeride #38. A double dipper, I stopped a Müller Kaffeerösterei in Mainz and had some sort of a raspberry tart with my coffee at mile 26. Lunch was around mile 60 in Pfungstadt where I stopped at Café, Tee & Co had coffee, a coke, and Kartoffelsuppe.

Today for my recovery ride I took the Pugsley out for some singletrack in the parks. For #FS2019OOBcoffeeride #39 I stopped at Bäckerei Raimund in Ginnheim and had a Mohnschnecke with my coffee.
