Need to be a bit more deliberate, as it is not hard to drink coffee in Germany. Knocked out #2 today while my boy played baseball with the German sport club we joined. Went to Bäcker Strohmaier in Aldingen down (north) the Neckar from Stuttgart.

#FS2019OOBcoffeeride #12. Back above freezing with light rain so the snow and ice is gone in Frankfurt. I took out my Salsa Pistola for a road ride stopping at Riedback in the Riedberg neighborhood of Frankfurt. I had a Rosinenbrötchen (like Best Buns raisin Danish) with my Kaffee.

Another gray and gloomy day in Frankfurt and I was too lethargic to get out for much of a ride. Still managed #FS2019OOBcoffeeride #13 stopping at a local Trinkhelle Kiosk in Dornbusch for a coffee-to-go near the end of the ride.

Made a trip to the Fahrradwerkstatt to pick up my Rove after some brake work, but forgot my camera. That didn’t keep me from stopping at Awake on Friedberger Landstaße in Nordend-Ost for a Cafe Crema and Schokocroissant on my way to the CG and home. #FS2019OOBcoffeeride #14.

There were periods of light snow off and on during the day and I didn’t head out until late afternoon limiting my coffee options, #FS2019OOBcoffeeride #15. Praunheimer Brücken Café on the edge of the Volkspark Niddatal. Not very picturesque.

#FS2019OOBcoffeeride #16. Some light snow again in Frankfurt, but much warmer than the DMV. :p I went out and rode a variant of Frankfurt’d GrünGürtel after postponing it three times last week. I stopped at mile 17 for Mittagsessen at the Bäckerei Ewald in Fechenheim, enjoying my hausgemacht Spinat Quiche, Schokohönchen, and of course, Kaffee.

Once again was too lazy to get out before the overnight snow started melting. I still appreciated the studded fat tires on the parks’ trails soft ice during my late afternoon #FS2019OOBcoffeeride #17. I stopped at the Trinkhalle Windigen Eck, along the Nidda in Heddernheim for my coffee.

#FS2019OOBcoffeeride #18. The weather forecast said less than a 5% chance of precipitation this morning, yeah right. Just a little misty as I rolled out at 10:30. I stopped at Brühmarkt at Bockenheimer Warte for an Americano and two mini-Schokobrötchen. Back on the road the mist turned to drizzle, then to light rain with fog as I headed across the fields. Many of the trails hadn’t been cleared (kein Winterdienst) and there were several stretches of soft ice, so between being wet and not having my Pugsley with studded tires I headed home near Nordweststadt instead of continuing on to Oberursel and Bad Homburg. I wasn’t interested in getting London Bridge points, and this ride got my weekly 100 mile points for the team.

#FS2019OOBcoffeeride #19. Gas station klein Klassicker Kaffee at a Hessol in Massenheim. They used the big cup, but only half filled it. Also a very tasty Kirchetasse to go with my Kaffee.

#FS2019OOBcoffeeride #21. I hadn’t been to the Commissary for a few American specialty items since last September. The first 25 miles was easier than the return 27 with 30 lbs of groceries. Lunch was Popeyes at the Exchange and I stopped at the Backhaus Heislitz in Kriftel on the return trip (mile 38) and refueled with an Apfeltasse and Kaffee.

#FS2019OOBcoffeeride #22. Today was an Elvis loop riding through Friedberg where he was stationed and Bad Nauheim where he lived. I made two coffee stops, the first at Kaffeerösterei KJR Kaffee & mehr where I had a quick kleine cup before rolling on . Eventually I stopped in Ranstadt for a very late lunch at Rank’s Stadtbäckerei & Café where I had the grosse cup.

Back to dreary weather in Frankfurt. I was back out riding sloppy loops in Grüneburg Park and Volkspark Niddatal and finally stopped at the Zur Gartenklause cafe in the KGV (Kleingartenverein – allotment gardens) at the base of the Telekom Tower, #FS2019OOBcoffeeride #23, Kaffee und Apfelkuchen (more of an apple spice cake).
