Do I Get AAA?

My spouse received an offer in the mail to join AAA. The combination of support in case of problems with a car and the various hotel discounts make it seem worthwhile. However, I am hesitant in joining AAA given AAA’s anti-cyclist position. I wonder if anyone else has dealt with this conundrum.

They’ve been all for bikes for some time now, but lobby against any specific bike project. Change that, and they’ll no longer be the devil.

While I’m not a big fan of their lobbying, I am happy about this offering since I recieve membership as a gift from a family member every year. Usually it’s not needed, but if my wife is out of town and something ridiculous occurs, I would consider calling them to see if they’re faster than Metro/bus combo.

When I cancelled AAA over their lobbying against cyclist and pedestrian interests they told me that they covered bicycles, as though that made it all right. So don’t be surprised, it’s their fig leaf.
