On a tangential note, I noticed that the last few issues of Bicycling magazine (paper copy) have made a concerted effort to bring some different stories to their publication than their standard. I will say that the last issues featured some really compelling articles and was one of their few I’ve read cover to cover. The reality is that not every cyclist is a Pinarello riding weight weenie that is only interested in UCI races or the best high end gear. I hope Bicycling continues this focus on bringing real, interesting, and diverse articles into their mainstream publication. [reference, the last Bicycling magazine featured an article on a very talented indigenous cyclist who discussed some of the controversy around the ride name]

I agree. I’ve found some of Bicycling’s recent content to be far more interesting.
Alexandera Houchin, who I believe was the cyclist in the article you referenced, recently posted a more detailed opinion on the name “Dirty Kanza” on The Radavist:
More tangential, Peter Flax’s article on Leo Rodgers, and the video that accompanied it, were excellent.

Thanks for sharing the video on Leo. The article on him was really interesting and made me think about how I’d get on a bike and get started if I had one leg.
