Is this a permanent station installation, or will it be removed again after the first Orange Line SafeTrack phase? I do recall that expansion out to EFC was in CaBi’s long-term plan, but it wasn’t supposed to happen so soon.
Arlington has applied to the regional Northern Virginia Transportation Authority for funding to expand Capital Bikeshare into the East Falls Church neighborhood of Arlington. In addition to adding 6 bikeshare stations within a mile of the station, it would add two additional bus bays. At this point, the project has not been recommended for funding by NVTA staff – your comments could sway it however. You can submit comments to FY2017Program@TheNoVaAuthority.org in support of project 6S, the “East Falls Church Regional and Bikeshare Connections” you may also want to support project 6W which would bring Capital Bikeshare to the City of Falls Church and project 8Y which, among many other things, would build a protected bike lane on a stretch of Clark Street in Crystal City.
The 1E will be discontinued by WMATA, but is (hopefully) being picked up by the ART system. ART is proposing to change the Dominion Hills route so it actually delivers passengers to East Falls Church metro station, instead of Ballston.
