Most of Southwest DC was torn town in the 1950’s under the mantle of urban renewal. 99% of the buildings in SW were leveled and replaced with a few affordable housing and many more luxury apartments and lots of concrete plazas. Most of the black resident were forced to relocate to other areas of the city.
@cvcalhoun and @nadine – the ways of the forum are indeed mysterious! I’m glad we have stability now but jeez, there are some strange things we’ve had to adjust to!
