A Third Thursday Happy Hour and celebration of our amazing success in helping not just WABA, but three (!) biking organizations meet their full $10,000 Clif challenges, will be held at Capitol City Brewery in Shirlington after your workday on August 16.

All are welcome, including significant others, friends, and especially those new to this forum. This is a no-host event, but Cap City will have their usual Thursday specials with reduced pricing for seasonal brews and selected appetizers from 4 to 7 p.m., and $2 core brews all evening long.

RSVPs are greatly appreciated by Cap City management so they can reserve tables for us and provide good service and individual checks. Just let me know a few days in advance and I’ll pass the info along to them on August 14 or 15.

Parking information for cars and bikes is attached below. In addition, covered bike parking (inverted U racks) is available on the Cap City side of the Shirlington bus station.

Must remember to skip either the sliders or the Walter Reed hill this time… looking forward to it.

Am I to read this as we have a $10,000 line of credit at Cap City Brewery?

LOL – sure! But I already applied the credit to some baskets of pretzels for us. Hope you like them! ;)

That was a WABA grant, not Bike Arlington. WABA is only one-third of the forum header, so maybe we only get $3,333.33?

In a case of most egregious short-sightedness, we may have chosen the WRONG THURSDAY for this particular happy hour, as today Thursday August 2 2012 is International IPA Day

Although it is too late to remedy this heinous oversight this year, we should all be sure to compensate next year. In the meantime, we should all take this opportunity to regroup and PRACTICE drinking copious amounts of IPA in preparation for next year.

I enjoyed the get together there so much last time that I won’t miss this one! Even though now that I work in Bowie this is WAAAAAY out of my way. Good thing I have an ecotec engine! (2 actually, but one has a few more HP)

Is this like how I’m going to be the oldest Olympic cyclist ever in 2016? ;)

    Olympic Cat 6 racing!

Speaking of which, somebody just won ANOTHER gold medal. Jeez, shouldn’t they cut that guy off?

Oh wait, Cipollini’s making a comeback!

Olympic commuting would be a great sport though. Throw some stoplights, potholes, crosswalks, pedestrians and cars onto the road race course, and every time the riders go round the circuit, rearrange all the traffic cones and construction signs.

If only I had read this yesterday afternoon before heading out for the sunset/full moon rise ride. We stopped at Cap City and I settled for a Kolsch.

Just bumping up the happy hour thread. If you can, please let me know by Aug. 15 if you plan to come so we can help Cap City set us up with good tables. The first post in this thread has all the info.

Klizotte – saw your post on the “cast” thread. You’re in – see you there!

DismalScientist’s presence indicates that the happy hour is probably one of those mandatory ones. ;)

I’ll definitely be there. If anyone needs a ride, esp after the event I can fit a bike, probably two, in the back of my car. Just send me a PM.

I’ll be there. I might have to pick up the kids, so I’ll bring them along. I may have to bring my car then, but if I make them ride they’ll be very thirsty when they get to Shirlington.
