    Default Power of 10 Challenge

    "Power of 10 Challenge"

    10 months, March - December
    10 rides
    100 km or 100 miles
20,000 feet or 10,000 meters of climbing

Gold = 10 centuries AND 10,000 meters climbing
Silver = 10 mix and match metrics & centuries AND 20,000 feet of climbing
Bronze = 10 metric centuries AND 20,000 feet of climbing

Note that these are minimums - you may exceed if you are feeling especially beastly!

Stars in the colors above will be distributed after the ride if you accept the challenge to bedazzle your helmet (by Sarah Bee or other representative)

Special prize if someone does their 1st century ever; same prize for first metric century ever
Special prize for those who decide to improve and switch to centuries at some point during the season
Special prize if completing Kill Bill is one of your chosen centuries
End of season finale happy hour with one's name emblazoned on the Great Wall of Glitter
**Prizes are TBD, but I am open to suggestions**

Rides must be uploaded to Strava for validation (manual or non-manual).
Rides must be completed in one day without large gaps of time except for rest stops, etc.
Rides do not have to be official, supported rides, but riding in a group with friends is encouraged.
Group photo highly recommended, but optional.

So, I realize this is pretty late for this season although I know some have taken on the challenge. When February rolls around, I'll get a headcount for next "season" and set up a Strava group. Who's in?

    Warmly,

    Sarah Bee

I hope I can get centuries in during next summer's transfer cycle.

Distance riding challenge? Not sure if I'm into that sort of thing. Might take the fun out of riding. Haha, you know I'm all in, SarahB

For those who don't know, consularrider has ridden a century a month for how many years Chris? When I first heard about his monthly centuries, it definitely inspired me to do long rides more frequently.

You are such a jokester, Rod. It was your Sunday Century series that inspired me to find a way to gratuitously hand out stickers.

Maybe a special prize is warranted for doing an international century too, say from Kiev?

Sounds like fun! I may be up for this... Can there be a special prize for doing a back country mountain bike century? :-P

Ha! Wouldn't you know it would be this year that I did my first metric and standard century. For funzies I might look back on my NBC logs to see if I got close to the distance for bronze, but the whole thing would be in Map My Ride!

Anyway, I'm still glad you sent this out now. It will give me the next few months to think about it!

Though here's a question, does it have to be one century per month? Or can we say, double up in August/September when there are so many events going on?

You can do centuries or metrics as frequently or as infrequently as you like. This time of yea there is at least one official ride a week. Also, Rod Smith has his own series going, which is definitely worth checking out!

Here's my proposed September Kyiv century. If I make it, that's 57 consecutive months with at least one hundred plus mile ride Rod. For October I hope to have my Kona Rove available and will try to factor in some dirt and gravel roads on the century.

nickbull has done a double metric every month for something like 9-10 years. In randonneuring circles, doing 12 consecutive months is called an R-12.
