Default Night Ride - August 14 (and 15)

Ever since the world's greatest convoy ride to get home after the FSLNHPP, I have been hoping to re-create the fun of that middle-of-the-night ride.

So get out your lights, but not your winter riding gear, and join me on the first Midnight Saddles night ride.

More details will be posted here as I devise them, but the basic outline is:

    • Meet at starting location (TBD) - 11PM
    • Ride through the night, likely including a pass by the monuments
    • End ride about 1AM at a 24-hour establishment (TBD)
    • Either drink like it's Friday night or have breakfast like it's Saturday morning - your choice.

You may want to skip this if you have somewhere to go Saturday morning, since you likely won't get home much before 2AM (if you skip the post-ride gathering) and probably more like 3AM. Hard-core night owls encouraged.

Like this post if you are interested.

Awww MAN! That sounds like a blast, but I'm going to be in Frederick that night for the century ride the next day. Damn! Any other weekend but that one...

I would love to do this but will be out of town this weekend.

Not to fret. If this one is successful, we'll do it again.

I was going to ask what the pace will be (been going on beginner level group rides at about 10 mph avg. speed), but turns out if I have an obligation that night too.

I really like that route. Safer areas and easy to bail from if someone needs to leave before the end.

Reminds me of the last night of summer before school started again, hanging out in the neighborhood on our bikes as late as we could.

This is a social ride, so pace will be easy. We will likely stop at monuments or elsewhere to get photos, etc. Riders of all abilities are totally welcome. If we break a sweat we are working too hard.

Ok, that sounds like fun. If I didn't have to drive out of town to pick up my cousin, I'd do this ride.

Hope to make the next one!
