The stretch of the fairfax county parkway trail between sunrise valley and fox mill has been screwed up seemingly forever. (Seriously, has that construction been ongoing for 10 years, 15? I don't even clearly remember a time without construction equipment scattering the area.) It's taken a turn for the worse, as the trail is now detoured onto a very narrow strip of asphalt on a relatively steep hill, with a dropoff, around a corner, a few inches away from a fence with a blackout curtain on it. I.e.: no visibility at all for approaching cyclists and no escape route.

Does anyone know whether someone has already talked to VDOT/whoever is managing the project about why that's stupid? At any rate if you're riding there slow down to a walking pace because there's no way to tell if you're about to get hit by someone coming the other way.
