Looks like our president is going to make American e-bikes great again.

Chinese-made e-bikes, which include bikes sold by Trek, Giant, Raleigh Electric, Pedego and other brands, would be subject to a 25 percent tariff under a proposal released Friday. The tariff, which could take effect in a matter of months, would increase the retail price of the bikes by hundreds of dollars, perhaps enough to make them uncompetitive with e-bikes made elsewhere, and dampening interest in one of the bike industry's most promising sectors.

Also, GPSs are on the list. Luckily, not Garmin. But if you plan to get a Stages Cycling and Wahoo Fitness GPS, get it now.

So, you’re saying there are pluses and minuses to every policy?

And now the EU follows with a huge 83.6% anti-dumping import tariff on Chinese ebikes.

Whoa. Though I guess it's good news for the Germans and Swiss?

And how did Giant and the other listed companies get the better deal?

BTW, law enforcement increasingly use e-bikes. I wonder if there are law enforcement related groups that would want to weigh in on getting these tarriffs removed from the proposal.
