Post Cool new website to track biking hazards: BikeMaps.org

    https://BikeMaps.org

BikeMaps.org is a new interactive mapping web site that allows cyclists to track danger spots, crashes, near misses and bike thefts, while letting other cyclists know about them. It was just launched last week by a group in Victoria, British Columbia so most of the current reports are from that area. But it is set up to track biking risks anywhere in the world.

It includes rider volume data that shows where people are riding - very useful for route planning! The data for my riding area looks pretty accurate.

It also has a nice feature that allows you to define an "alert area" to get monthly reports about new activity in your riding area.

So far, there are only a handful of reports from the East Coast. This could be a great resource if it is used by DC area riders - pass the word!
