On Saturday, October 18, 2014 Best Buddies will host the fifth annual Audi Best Buddies Challenge: Washington, D.C., a five-star, family friendly charity cycling event with three cycling options: 100 miles; lead by Tour de France legend, George Hincapie, 100K (62 miles) or 20 miles.
Join hundreds of participants as they ride, walk or run together to raise funds and awareness for Best Buddies, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
The event also features a 5K walk/run led by nine-time Olympics gold medalist Carl Lewis. The Challenge starts at the base of the Washington Monument on the National Mall and ends at Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia. Upon arrival at Morven Park, hot showers, massages and refreshments will be offered. Twenty mile cyclists, 5K walkers and runners will be transported to the finish line by motor coach where they will enjoy an awards ceremony featuring inspiring speeches by our Buddy Ambassadors, a gourmet lunch, open bar and a private concert.
