Default Portrait of my grandfather 80 and still cycling

Just saw this link from my favorite irreverent car blog. Hope I can still be cycling on my 4th 20th birthday.

My father is 81 and still biking

During most of the year he uses the stationary bike at his gym about 3 times a week.

Over the summer he bikes around town up in the Adirondacks in New York state on a hybrid.

He does weight machines at his gym too.

The rider with the 12th highest milage (5815 miles as of May 25) on bikejournal.com is melo and I believe he is 85.

I bicycle every week with someone who is 80. And it's only in the past year that I've finally been able to beat him up the big hill along our route!

People get "old" because of inactivity and junk food nutrition, not because of age. Sure, we lose a bit of the top end of our physical capability as we age, but much of the physical decline that you see among so many is the result of sedentary living. Ride on!
