No way. WP's radar though does show promise that the train of rain might pass by DC's western burbs by 7:30. So maybe there's still a glimmer of hope.
Screw that. The rain paused for 10 minutes at 7:45 so I hit the bike. Then it started to pour again. Only a couple people at the Canal Park Pit stop at 3rd and M Street SE, but the volunteers were able to set up under some steps so they had decent cover.

And maybe it's not that God hates bicycles, but that God hates guns. Memorial Avenue is the road that connects Memorial Bridge with Arlington Cemetery. Where it crosses crosses the channel west of the circle is the District/Virginia line. DC government set up crowd control barriers at the border and blocking the sidewalk. The barriers had signs warning people of DC's statutes against certain types of guns. Apparently a gun rights group was planning a march on Washington today. They had eight people.

I think that's called a "companionable stroll" rather than a "march".

When were you there? I was the short middle-aged dude in the blue windbreaker and drenched khaki pants with the Kona Dew, I was there about 8:45 or so.

I was recruited to volunteer at Ballston, starting at 5:30am. At 5:15 the sky opened and it was pouring. My wife asked if I really needed to do this. I would have felt guilty not knowing if they would have enough volunteers. I opted to not bring my 2002-2013 complete set t-shirt collection, since that was just more to carry, and I didn't expect a lot of people to ooh and aah over it.

Well, the Ballston stop had plenty of volunteers--more than necessary for the pared down effort. We had no cyclists, though. I had to leave about 7:15. By then I think maybe 10 cyclists had shown up. Hopefully more came later. Compared to last year, it felt kind of sad and pathetic. Sounds like there was better swag at Rosslyn.
