Default The "what does your shop look like" thread.

I definitely like seeing other peoples bike room setups. My shop is the rec room in my basement. When I bought my townhouse several years ago, the realtor thought I was crazy because I almost always looked at the basement first. Needed room for bikes!

    Bike storage:

    Bench and tools:

    Everything in its place!

Flat drawers with storage for small parts:

Have future plans (replace the floor with either tile or rubber, redo the trim and build more storage space) but its working well at the moment.

Lets see how everyone else sets theirs up!

I'm not sure we need to see any more photos. Jabberwocky's set up will put all others to shame.

That said, we did the same thing when looking for our condo in Williamsburg. Walked straight to the garage (a requirement) with a tape measure to ensure the the kayaks would fit.

This picture was taken about 24 hours after closing on the place. We didn't have furniture and were sleeping on the floor but we put up the racks! A few bikes hang on the opposite wall.

Holy OCD, Batman! That is beautiful!

I'm going to take the contrary view, however, and say there may be people on this forum who can top this.

I'll take a couple of pix tonight so you can see what the opposite kind of set up looks like. Which I'm sure some of you have never, ever seen in your life. Outside of a hoarders show.

Yeah, a picture of a standard toolbox (which more than holds all my bike tools ), my one bike, a couple spare tires, and a few bungee cords hanging from hooks in the ceiling of my apartment building's laundry/bike parking/storage cage room in the basement pales horribly in comparison. That's one heck of a nice setup, jabberwocky.

Uh, yeah, anyone who thinks I win hasn't seen Dirts shop. I"d be willing to bet there are some pretty awesome setups out there. I'm actually ridiculously disorganized by nature, so I try and make organization as easy as possible for myself. Because otherwise things rapidly get messy.

Wow, I am envious. I can hardly move in my bike work area when I actually set up the stand -- not to mention putting a bike in it. I do most of my maintenance/repair work outside now.

I'm pretty sure I see it every time I put my bike away.
