Default Tuesday morning could be coldest day in D.C. in 20 years

Wind chill as low as -15F, and that's if you're standing still, not riding a bike.

A few hardy souls might be cycling on Tuesday, but I seriously doubt I'll be riding outside that morning. If I do any bike-related activity, it will be on a spin bike, preferably while watching one of the good James Bond movies.

It is important to be wise. Plan for the cold and have some bail-outs where you can stop to get coffee mid-ride if you can.

    Are you from Antarctica?

So, we had one of the hottest December days on record, and now we're about to go the opposite direction in January. Wonderful.

This sounds like a gauntlet thrown.

    It's not called Burning Saddles...

(that would be fun during the summer in Phoenix though...I used to play tennis in July and shoes would literally get soft and start melting)

I agree. Tuesday is my normal day to ride in so I think I got to do so.

How do you prevent vbrakes from freezing? It already happened to mine and I had no brakes for half my commute.

It will be cold. But not as cold as in Minnesota. Wind chill in parts of the Upper Midwest could be 65 below zero, early in the week.
