No photos because it was very dark, but Arlington has done some spot improvements where the Arlington Blvd Trail pops out by the Days Inn / Pershing and they're very nice. The curb cut into the access road from the trail is now full trail width and the little trail that connects to the Pershing intersection is wide, smooth and unobstructed by bushes. It appears to be the improvement that were outlined here except no plastic bollards yet.

Interesting article on how to build support for bike infrastructure in low-income communities.

Nice design of bike racks installed at the NE corner of the recently renovated Oakland Park near Virginia Square metro station in Arlington. I'm glad they put these in because a while back they removed a Capital Bikeshare station on the South side (Wilson Blvd) of the park.

Coming Winter 2021: W&OD Bridge over Wiehle AVE in Reston. Should be completed in 2 years from now per PDF docs. It would be 18 feet wide:

Hopefully they can keep the trail open during construction. A detour along Sunset Hills is not going to be fun.

I doubt they would keep it open. Sunset Hills RD has a sidewalk on one side, and it's not the W&OD side, which makes it harder for some. So it means using the road for one block, and on the next block there is a parking lot/service road that takes you to the rest of the W&OD. See this map link.

Disagree. There is a lot of room there. They can either reroute the trail over 20 feet for the duration or build the bridge a bit off to one side (like was done over the beltway).

I hope that you are correct. There are enough detours already on the W&OD.

Fairfax County put up a temporary bike/ped lane on Tysons Blvd., the main road around the Galleria Mall (Tysons II), to provide extra exercise space during the pandemic. See: https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/transp...on/news/t12_20

I'm not sure how necessary the effort is. Traffic is unbelievably light in the area even during what would normally be morning and evening rush hours.
