Default Obstruction on Clarendon Blvd near Scott Street

    right around here http://goo.gl/maps/2Et4A
The construction on the left side of Clarendon Blvd down this hill has been going on for a while, but today was the first day I saw barricades (plastic jersey walls) around a construction site on the right side of the road. They go from the corner where that metrobus stop is to the first or second parking space, and extend fully into the bike lane.

It's not the worst obstruction in the world, but it does come on you kinda suddenly if your going down that hill on a CaBi.

Well, it comes a lot faster if you are on a real bike.

So now things are back to how they were before, with the bike lane closed. But it's official because they put up signs.

It's not needlessly done--it appears that they really are tearing up the sidewalk and part of the road there.

I have hated going from Rosslyn up to Courthouse for the past two years because of all the construction projects. I have rarely ridden the Clarendon downhill in that time and go out of my way to avoid it. We'll have to see where things stand if we get any snow this year and I have to try and ride the routes that get plowed first.

Considering the speed you can achieve on that downhill, taking the lane is pretty easy.
