Someone asked about bicycle rack guidance last night at Happy Hour. There is actually an official, professional standard, in detail - which is excellent for working with management. It reviews and recommends types of racks, and also provides excellent information about how and where racks should be installed. We used it. Management, a communications engineer, and I sat in the garage, with the standard laid out on the ground, pontificating on how our new racks should be installed. It was a great help.

The standard is produced by the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals. Bicycle Parking Guidelines, 2nd Edition (2010). The first edition is also online and is free (it is shorter, and less detailed but you can get an idea of what is in it).
