Default Document Arlington: Bikes in Arlington - Invitation for Input

Document Arlington is a youth project of Arlington Independent Media. The Document Arlington Project (DAP) is a six week television production apprenticeship program open to all APS high school students. Six DAP interns will work together over the summer to create two 15 minute documentaries about the Arlington community. The program includes training, access to professional equipment, production development assistance, as well as cable television and theatrical public screenings of your documentaries in the fall. This is an exceptional summer job opportunity!

This summer one of the documentaries will be on bikes in Arlington. The sub themes will be Phoenix Bikes, CABI, and Bike Arlington.

The interns are busy working on the project and have contacted some of you. This is an open invitation to all of you for input. What issues or aspects should Document Arlington focus on? Is there something that you would like to draw attention to? Is there an issue of praise? Is there a confounding problem? How is the war on cars going? Would you be willing to be interviewed? If you want, drop me a note at rcannon100 which is at yahoo.com

Last year the documentaries were on food trucks, and chicken coops

This week on Quincy Deck next to W&L High School, American Inline is running its first ever combination skateboard and bike riding camp. There are at least 30 kids with bikes over there, some learning to ride for the first time. They start at 9:00 am and end at 3:00 pm. Greg Keim is the director of American Inline. Word is that this project is going forward extremely well. Fisette has been interviewed along with Henry from Phoenix Bikes. Garvey will be interviewed as well as the police chief and Chris Eatough. And ArlCo got asked what it is doing about the Intersection of Doom. The students will be working on this documentary for a couple more weeks.

Maybe they should try to interview the WashCycle blogger. He's pretty much got the entire history of DC cycling in the DC in his head (and on his blog) and they may be interested in seeing how social media has advanced the cause and changed over time.
