Default Third Washington D.C. Bloomsday Ride on Friday June 14th

    From an email I received:

You are cordially invited to a leisurely Bloomsday bicycle ride followed a reception and readings at the Irish Ambassador's residence. Bloomsday is observed annually on June 16th although we plan to get an advance start this year on Friday June 14th at four o'clock. The day celebrates the life of James Joyce and relives the events in his book Ulysses all of which took place in Dublin, 1904. The tradition is to dress in Edwardian costumes.

Assemble across from The White House (Pennsylvania Avenue side)
Leisurely 4-mile ride through DC, mostly on bike lanes or cycle tracks
Stop en route at James Hoban's Irish Bar for a quick refreshment break
Arrive at Ambassador's residence at six o'clock. Light refreshments
The tradition is to dress in Edwardian costume, circa Dublin 1904 (tips to follow)
Do bring bike, cameras, water, helmets, lock or CaBi bike key

RSVP: Fionnuala at FinnBike@gmail.com or 703.981.7052

I have an exact number of invitations from the embassy so if you can let me know whether or not you are able to attend that would be appreciated as I will offer unused spots to others. If you get in touch with me directly, we can see how the numbers are working out for spouses/partners.

EXTRA BLOOMSDAY HOMEWORK PREP (completely optional):

Do you know if this is an annual thing? My wife and I would LOVE to do this, but it's just not in the cards this year due to other commitments.

It has been done for a few years, yes. I did it two years ago and it was a lot of fun.

If anyone is planning on doing it, PLEASE let Fionnuala know and make sure she has slots left. She has only a certain number of spaces and needs RSVPs. If you RSVP and can't show up, please let her know so she can open up a slot for someone else.

Like ^^^ said I don't think this is intended to be an "everyone show up and ride" sort of thing.
