Stolen Bike: Pea Green Surly Cross Check

I had my bike stolen from the rack it was locked to at H & 13th NE last night between 6-7:40pm. I have called in the report to the Washington DC police, also filed a claim with my renters insurance, and contacted the OnGuard lock company.

I built his bike myself to my own liking and preferences. I was crushed to return to the rack where I locked her up just an hour and forty minutes earlier, only to find her missing without any evidence of ever being there.

Curious about this as well - I have an OnGuard Bulldog Mini that I almost never use anymore b/c it just feels so flimsy.

This is the second or third Surly theft getting posted to the forums in the last few weeks - not good news.

That's the one I used with an extra cable. I've contacted the lock company to start that process. Fingers crossed.

Aw, man, that sucks. Nothing worse than coming outside to find, well, nothing where something you spent time, attention, and $$ to build used to be. A nice ride, too, from the description - Brooks, VeloOrange, Soma, etc. Bet the thief doesn't know what they have, but it should make it easier to "find." Did you capture the bike serial# - remember, Surly puts it in a special place to make it easier to ID and recover (see Surly's website for more details.) Also (and a shout-out on this goes to Kate C. aka @girlonabikedc, and an MPD officer) MPD makes it easier to check out the haul of what they recover, so you may be able to spot your bike that way - see https://secure.flickr.com/photos/mpd...division/sets/

Ugh that's the one I have. And I used to have a green Cross Check. Best of luck getting it back, or at least getting some relief from the lock company.
