bikeplanner.org is an amazing site for planning Capital Bikeshare trips. Click on your origin and destination. In the lower left you can then check the box for "A Shared Bike." The site instantly spits out the distance and time the trip will take. Even more amazing, it will tell you how many bikes are available in real time at your origin, and docks open at your destination. I find this even more useful than capitalbikeshare.com's mapping feature.
I found it to be hit or miss. I like the "Shared Bike" feature, but the bike directions aren't always the best. It has led me the wrong way down one way streets or put me on streets that are the opposite of bike-friendly even when I make bike-friendliness a priority. Google maps does a good job with bike directions, and you can put "Capital Bikeshare" and it will pull up stations for you.
