Couple hit by a pickup truck on the W&OD @ Columbia Pike - update?

Sorry, searched and could not find the old thread that covered this incident. It was about 6 months (?) ago on the W&OD where it crosses Columbia Pike....an older couple was hit by an out-of-control pickup truck driven by an apparent dirtbag with no sense of, well, sense. At the time the couple ended up in the hospital. Does anyone know any follow up for either the couple or the driver?

Just wanted to highlight that the next to last comment on that Arlnow article claims to be from someone who knows them and indicates that further updates on their status will not be released for various reasons.

I almost got hit by one of those park ranger pickups on the custis last week coming around a blind corner. Actually, I almost ran into it. Scared the $#!+ out of me though.

That is just brutal, I almost got taken out by a pickup NVRPA driving without lights on not too long ago.
