Has anyone else started to notice an extra bit of hurriedness and distractedness among drivers since Thanksgiving? I haven't had any close calls since I've predicted the bad driving far enough in advance to stop, but I've been cut off more often (in bike lanes or not) and otherwise seen worse driving in the last week than in the previous couple months.
It seems like everybody's speeding through the neighborhoods a little faster and more carelessly as the holidays approach and seasonal stress disorder starts to set in.
I call it Christmas panic season. It's kind of telling that people ask "Are you ready for Christmas?" rather than "Are you excited about the approaching holidays?"
Folks are in a bigger hurry than ever to try to get all their stuff done, I guess, and that seems to be extending to worse driving than usual. (Also we're getting into the party season, so alcohol is probably part of it.)
So everybody please be a little extra careful (and well lit) out there!
