Big O Manufacturing. They fit nicely and are good quality with stainless steel mounting hardware. I see they've changed their offering. At one time there were separate kits for various fat bikes. Now it looks like they provide adjustable stays to accommodate different bikes using the same tire size.

First bike. 1984? I vividly remember the conversation I had with Amy, the girl across the street, about taking off the training wheels. I wanted to do it. "Can you ride fast?" Amy asked. I mean, duh. Anyway, her dad took the training wheels off, I did my first ride in her backyard, and the rest is history.

The new rainish-weather bike. Was *this* close to buying a nice bike, but thought better of getting something too nice to lock up outside the grocery store and ride in the rain when that's supposed to be its purpose. This is a tiny bit disappointing by comparison, as I knew it would be, but being a 2015, they were almost giving it away. Just need to put some real brakes on it and it'll be good to go.

There's always that, right? Dialing back what you want to what you need I use one of my old ti bikes as a "townie", but have taken measures to prevent theft of its parts. I also just installed on my wife's bike the Pinhead locking skewers that the board discussed recently after poor Wheels & Wings got her wheels stolen. It's really nice, and am ordering a set for my bike as well.

Yesh, 10 cogs instead of 11, Tiagra instead of Ultegra, crap brakes to replace, and 2 pounds heavier, but $1400 cheaper. It just made sense for the purpose, but was still a bit sad.

    Those skewers are a thought.

Looks nice enough to me. What was the "nice bike" you had in mind?

That was a Vitus Venon carbon disc. Actually had it in the shopping cart but balked at the import duty/expense w/out being able to ride it first.

ETA: I am a bit biased against aluminum, having broken two aluminum frames. Swore I'd never do it again, but for this bike, it's fine. If it breaks after a couple of years, so be it. I'm going to beat the hell out of it anyway.
