That's a lot of the reason why I don't make that change. Most of my endurance rides are done with groups where I don't spend much time in the aero positioning. I'm at least somewhat responsible for setting pace for the group, so I ride in a more traditional roadie position. Since I have neck and back issues, I tend to keep my positioning on the bikes pretty darn close.
That said, I'm not opposed to building a bike for aero positioning. With three builds in the works already, the likelihood that I do anything in the near future is fairly minimal. I will go there at some point, I'm sure.
