I heard this piece this afternoon. I thought it was very encouraging to support local shops instead of taking work and income from them.

CaBi also seems to be good for the bike rental companies. They haven't gone away and I see many groups on the Bike and Roll bikes on the Mall. The City Hub bike rentals in Crystal City also seem to be doing well. They expanded after Cabi started up, adding a separate bike rental fleet to the new Renaissance hotel on Potomac Ave. There's a CaBi station just 100 ft. from the hotel entrance but both Cabi and the City Hub bike rentals seem to be able to co-exist. People understand the difference between CaBi and the all-day bike rental shops.
