Default Bike to Work Day - National Harbor to Reston

I am wondering if there is anyone riding this route Friday? Also, has anyone else ridden the route before or had any problems? I plan on riding mostly trails. Leaving around 5:30am.

    Thanks

    Mike

I've ridden it a few times (I live in Reston). Its long, but super easy. Pedestrian path over 495 to the Mt Vernon, north to the Shirlington Connector/4mile Run trail to the end of the W&OD, W&OD to Reston. Roughly 30 miles each way. The only remotely confusing part is following the Mt Vernon through Alexandria (no path, you're on roads through downtown) and then making sure you make the turn onto the connector (If you reach the airport, you went too far).

If that's the only issue, then I'll be fine. I've ridden that portion many times from the harbor. I've ridden in Reston many times as well. I haven't ridden the middle portion much at all. Thanks for the info!

Should be easy peasy, hard to get lost. Just be careful with the street crossings from Falls Church westward. Also watch out for the steam bank stabilization project which has been forcing riders onto the parallel gravel horse trail east of Vienna in the area of Clarks Crossing Park before you get to Hunter Mill Rd. I think it's between mileposts 13.5 and 14, but others who ride this regularly should correct me if I am wrong.
