Like chocolate? I'm leading a ride from Vienna to City of Fairfax for the Chocolate Lovers Festival on Feb 4 or 5 -- depends on which day looks better with weather. If you're interested, comment here and I'll keep you updated.
Starting Place will be at Vienna Caboose (there's a parking lot there. You get into it via Ayr Hill Ave). Starting time will be 11am. It's only about 7 miles each way to City of Fairfax. I will provide a route that shows the way back as well so you can leave when you're ready (i.e., not everyone has to stay together once we get there).
Bring a lock and some $$ for chocolate tastings!

This fun ride is a joint venture between #publicartfinder pointless prize sponsor @Boomer2U and Reston-resident karenbikes2. Participation is open to all who can ride a bike and at your own risk so please wear a helmet, use bike lights and obey all road rules/trail etiquette. Here is the 17.8 mile route with an easy option to shorten to about 8 miles:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/41867937
Ride starts at the Wiehle East-Reston Metro Plaza in front of Starbucks. If you're arriving by metro, turn left after you go through the fare gates. If you're arriving via the W&OD, at the Wiehle Ave crossing, turn left onto Wiehle, cross Sunset Hills Rd, take the next right at Reston Station Blvd, then your first left up a cobblestone-ish access road to the Wiehle East-Reston Metro Plaza. Starbucks will be on your right, near the entrance to the metro. For those driving, there's a free parking lot at the intersection of Wiehle and Sunset Hills. From there folllow the directions for riding from the W&OD.
For more information on some of the art we'll see on the ride:

If the weather is foul on the 5th, we'll ride instead on Sunday, 2/12/2023, 11am.

Thanks to all the public art finders who came out for todays ride! I had a great time showing you some of Reston's public art and hope you all enjoyed it as well. Here's a link to the list of art works we saw, with the name of the artist and a blurb about the piece: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing
If you have any problem with the link, message me and I'll get it to you another way.

A reminder!
Join me, Jessica, and Andrea on a Kent Island ride on Sunday, February 12, at 10 am.
This ride is 34 miles on a wide and smooth bike path that travels the island from North to South. Jessica will lead this ride and take us to see the lovely views of the Bay Bridge, visit the local fishing pier, and an out 'n back to the crab marina and lighthouse. At mile 26, there is a little store, but feel free to bring your own healthy snacks. Bathrooms at the start, Silver Swan, fishing pier, and marina store. Here is the route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/34016170
The trail is 100% paved and flat, and the weather will be around 40 degrees. Free parking is available at Bats Neck Park. Meet at 9:45, Wheels out at 10:00 am.
