A brand new LFL on Farm House Lane in Fairfax. It didn't have any books when Red found it earlier in the week so he deposited some books in it on his last visit. I brought 5 books today. I had asked my husband for some books and did not pay any attention to the titles when I put it in my backpack, so I chuckled when I took one of the books out of the bag. Check out the title of the book I'm holding, "The Frozen Hours" by Jeff Schaara. It is a book about the Korean War, but the title was very appropriate for today (temp of 17 but feels like 5). The only thing my father would ever say about the Korean War was that it was bitterly cold.

On 2nd St. S., near the intersection of S. Fillmore St. in Arlington, VA
Not a little free LIBRARY, per se, but a "Little Free Food Pantry" - This one is actually called the "Little Yellow Free Pantry" because it is operated by the folks who live in what they call "The Little Yellow House". This is on 2nd St. South, at the intersection with S. Fillmore Street in Arlington. The Little Yellow House faces Fillmore, and the the Little Yellow Pantry is in their side yard facing 2nd Street.
I just have to take a moment to tell you about the folks in this house. Susan and her husband David are incredible, and are so GIVING to the neighborhood. Every year, she has a 'Kindness' yard sale, where she asks folks to donate any items they have. She then has a yard sale, with no prices on them (pay what you want/can) and then she uses the proceeds from this 'kindness' yard sale to fund acts of kindness for people.
Like there was a young lady whose family couldn't afford a prom dress for her, so she took the girl shopping and bought her the dress she wanted, plus the accessories.
She also set up a table at Christmas time and had kids stop by and write letters to Santa, which Santa (Susan) then answered, and then she bought one of the gifts the kids wanted and put it under the tree on her porch, and had a day for the kids to come by and get their gift. And now she is doing the warm winter wear, and hangs out a coat, hat, mittens, on a hanger on her front fence, for anybody who needs it to come and take it.
And then she put up this free little pantry, and people can even leave notes for her to tell her what they might need. And if they need perishables, just come and knock on her door. And it has the cutest little doorknobs. When I was there today, somebody else had come by their house to drop of a bag of food donations. This woman is INCREDIBLE!
OK, I kind of went on and on, but I couldn't help myself. Her name is Susan Thompson Gaines - The Washington Post even did an article on her, and she was featured on CBS Sunday Morning - how cool is that! And she's my neighbor!

#FSbooks-LFL 4920 N 18th St. this game is really fun. It's pretty easy in Arlington because they are everywhere. Just landed in Salt Lake so hope I can find some out here (and a fat tire bike to rent).
This library had an interesting selection with a book on Buddhism. Seem to find a lot of religion books in LFLs. Didn't expect that when the game started.
I really need to log off the internet and go for a ride.

Okay, this may not even count, because Tapatalk has been misbehaving and not letting me post since just before midnight when I started trying. Plus, there is no way to get my bike into the photo. Let me know, and I'll untag the ride.
The problem is, the library is described as being at the entrance to the Pence Law Library at American University. But it is not at the entrance to the building; it is at the entrance from the building into the library. (Doesn't it violate the spirit of the thing to have a Little Free Library where the public can't access it?) So all I could do is take a picture of it through a window, and there was no way to get my bike into that shot.
The proprietor indicates that they want light fiction, for law students tired of reading nothing but case law. So if you can actually get in, that's what you should donate.

Several of the LFL's here are behind locked doors or fences. I agree, it completely violates the spirit of the L FREE L. But, there it is.
The nicest, cleanest and orderly LFL with the cutest door knobs. Adult theme books with subjects on cooking, the mind, the brain and mindfulness. I grabbed the book on Mastering Mindfulness by Kim Davies and donated "Passenger on The Pearl" by Winifred Conkling. LFL is located at 1524 Oklahoma Ave NE. #FSBOOKS
