1/17/2022 Dumpling
This one was tough. I had to find a place with actual curbside service, not just take-out. (I found City Lights of Bethesda.) Then their website for ordering was broken. So I called to order. Then my e-bike, which I had intended to use, wouldn't turn on. By the time I'd finished struggling with it and then giving up and moving all my lights, etc., to my regular bike, City Lights was calling to find out where I was. Then I realized I had put my helmet down somewhere and couldn't find it, so I had to dig out an old helmet from the back of the shed. And then I headed out into a high headwind.
Let's just say that my #publicartfinder for today was a pig flying. Which seemed appropriate.
1/17/2022 Dumpling , I love Freezing Saddles. Because of this game I learned about a (new to me) restaurant near my home. YU Noodles in Fairfax Centre off of Lee Highway.

Mulan dumpling showed up in Google maps, which led me to learn more about this cool sounding local company https://www.mulandumpling.com/
"In 2016, co-owner Roya Shadravan had discovered she had a brain tumor. Luckily she survived the operation with no harmful symptoms. The event changed her and her partner Kristy Lam's lives. We became extra conscious about the food we ate, and it's health benefits. We found it challenging to find convenient, international cuisine that was also healthy. As a result, we left our established careers and created Mulan Dumpling. We put our heart and soul into making a variety of delicious dumplings with fresh and natural ingredients."
I haven't tried them yet, but Union Kitchen is one of the places you can buy them locally.
Probably a meningioma (non-cancerous but invasive). I had one and survived the surgery too. I was astonished to find out they're very common in women over 40 and often undiagnosed until they've gotten really big and affected balance/hearing/etc. OR they get discovered when one has an MRI for something else that happens. So if you have a bike crash and they say, "Get the MRI", there may be more than one good reason to do so.
Was some administrator messing with the site right before midnight? I hit the submit button well before midnight and the screen went white. Had to sign into the site and make a new post (the one I was submitting vanished) and submit that. The second time it’s also finicky about uploading the same photo again. You suddenly have to drag it and hope that actually works eventually. It nuts! But as long as I can participate by putting the photo on my Strava ride, I guess I’m good. It’s just so frustrating and you can’t be considered for the artsy prize.
Today's photo scavenger hunt brought to you by ACME PIE CO! I was excited to ride a few blocks down to Acme, because I LOVE their pies. What a major disappointment to discover that they were CLOSED today! Awwww! I'll just have to go back another day to get a delicious sampling. Acme Pies is located at 2803 Columbia Pike, in Arlington.
