I suggest heated insoles versus socks. Less bulky.

I personally, am waiting on them to go on sale before I buy. In the meantime, I have been using chem warmers for years and they work pretty well, they just create a lot of waste.

I just bought a set. Will let you know how they are. I like the idea of no bulky battery around your ankle. Regards, Jessica

FOLLOW up: Have been using them for about a week. On HIGH they only last a couple of hours so MEDIUM should do it for a longer life.

The battery is IN the INSOLE, making it a bit thick. I had to go to thinner socks.

While I would not characterize my dogs as TOASTY, they were not cold today in 25 feels like 11 temps x 2 hours.

So far they are worth IT.

Just bought a pair of 45NRTH drop bar pogies. Review pending.

I, too, jumped on the sale bandwagon and ordered a pair. Thanks @rod for the heads up. Stay tuned for a product review.

BTW, I have used Barr Mitts on my drop-bar road bikes, and Moose Mitts on my flat-bar bikes with great results, even during polar vortices, but always have been on the look out for something in between those temps just above freezing when the heavy artillery Mitts cause my hands to sweat. Hopefully these will do the trick.
