    Default Fslnhpp 2021

    All -

I missed the Freezing Saddles Last Night Hains Point Party in 2019 because earlier that day I had surgery to repair my torn Achilles. I missed it in 2020 because of COVID. It is difficult to express how much I am looking forward to it this year. And it's on a Friday! So most of us can sleep in afterwards!

Who's in? I am trying to motivate myself to make some delicious snacks. I'm even thinking about dragging the kids down on the early side (Gremlin 2 may need the miles if she wants the Pointless Kids title this year).

This is one of my favorite things about Freezing Saddles. Being at Hains Point late at night is just weird - it's full of people, but NO ONE even bats an eyelash at a bunch of cyclists riding stupid laps. Except for that raccoon that one year, but I think he wanted a shot of Steve O's limoncello.

Anyway, i hope to see everyone there.

There is plenty of room at Hains Point for distancing - I do not expect to be vaccinated by then but I am strongly opposed to organizing super-spreader events

I'm also on track to be half-vaccinated (or fully if I end up getting the J&J one?) Not that it matters for this. I have already started negotiating my release to at least make an appearance (solo).

For those not familiar, not to toot my own horn, but this is the origin. It is one of the best days of the year.

I'm planning on being there. I'll be two weeks past my last vaccination. Still planning to socially distance, but not being as obsessive as I once was.

There's a small chance I'll escape town for the weekend but definitely won't miss it if I'm around.

I am thrilled that jrenaut will make his triumphant return to the FSLNHPP. I have attended every single one, and I will, of course, be there again with a toasting beverage and possibly some other good cheer.

If you drive, and the gates are open (they usually are), then you can park here, especially if you are bringing music or balloons or hype dancers or anything else to add to the festivities.

This is where we will congregate (distanced) for the final lap about 11:35. We'll take the final lap, curse the winter that we are leaving behind, and drink a toast to another Freezing Saddles season. Then a group photo as best we can (night photos with proper distancing can be tricky).
As jrenaut pointed out, this year it's on a Friday night, so I expect a record-breaking group of badasses to still be there at midnight for the toast.

I agree: the FSLNHPP is the highlight of Freezing Saddles, and it's not to be missed.

    .
What if the gates are closed? Will this still happen? I was there one night last week and the gate was closed at night so I didnít do a lap.

If the gates are closed, we'll improvise.
