Not long ago I was riding around the neighborhood and spotted a family of concrete ducks with umbrellas. Easy peasy; I can find those again, right? 3.5 miles of circling up and down and around the hood, I finally relocated them. But due to a lowering sun in just the wrong part of the sky, my snapshot was totally unimpressive.

So I kept riding and spotted this little duckling staring furtively through a red little free library door saying, “pick me pick me!”

I love those little free libraries - I have used books found in several of them for the scavenger hunt. They are great resources!

On my way back from WTFCC this morning I kept my eyes open and sure enough, a few ducks were feeding at Sparrow Pond (the little wetlands around mile 2 of the W&OD). I figured that if I didn't see any real ducks along the way I would head to Duck Donuts, but my sighting of these mallards meant no donuts for me.

"Live Ducks Save Bike Adventurer from Certain Heart Attack" (news at 11)...you're better off with the live ones. :-)

Little land-locked rubber ducky who lives atop the medicine cabinet in the restroom at the art studio where I work. (We make 3D collages out of memorabilia that clients send us, and apparently this poor guy didn’t make the cut ) Technically at the end of my ride, but hope it counts

2/25 - Duck!

Since I only had time for a short ride tonight, I went for a different kind of duck that sleeps nearby. Fortunately, it had the word on it as part of its name (Sitting Duck) so this still is a legal submission even if you don't consider it an animal...
