This one is a twofer: BCCRS (Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad) and CFC (Combined Federal Campaign).

I started out thinking I was going to Keep It Simple Stupid, with a picture of a Kiss & Ride sign. But on the way home, I kept finding more acronyms and initialisms everywhere. There were:

    • HSBC=Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation.
    • AZNA=Aziz & Naid. (The website of AZNA Salon says this is the derivation.)
    • NTB=National Tire & Battery.
    • PDG=Prestipino Dental Group (What this one stood for was right on the same sign.)
    • SAT=Scholastic Aptitude Test and ACT=American College Testing. (There was an SAT and ACT prep sign.)
    • NIH=National Institutes of Health sign that mentioned COVID-19=COronaVIrus Disease 2019.

I thought about going to the B-CC YMCA=Bethesda-Chevy Chase Young Men's Christian Association, but decided that was really overkill.

Ultimately, I decided to go with the sign that had both the longest initialism and a second initialism.

    Way to trailblaze!
Also I think it's good you didn't get the Kiss & Ride sign. I'm not sure that kiss is meant to be the acronym.

Mmm.. but the examples Ricky gave sort of made it loose. The acronym in "gifts" is "gif" - but they probably didn't mean to include gif when they used the word gifts. Hope that makes sense. Check out my entry for another type of twist that I think is acceptable.

I am not sure what the owners of this center meant when they used the term SCETA, but obviously to me it stands for Southern California Engineering Technologists Association. https://mybar.cpp.edu/organization/sceta

    2/26 Acronym or initialism

Remember when this wasn't ubiquitous? It is so much a part of the landscape now that I forget to notice it -- so I was standing in the coffee shop awaiting my latte and exclaimed (too loudlyl) to my riding partner, "WIFI! I found it!" Well, duh -- it's a coffee shop with customers mostly under 30. No one would show up if it didn't have WIFI!

In the style of hidden acronyms, I'm going with the NCO (Non-Commissioned Officer, used in the military) hidden in the name of my local taekwondo studio.

Ramen contains RAM (Random Access Memory), an essential component of computers and smartphones. Many of us can't function without either!

On February 26, 1935, Watson-Watt demonstrates the feasibility of RADAR - RAdio Detection And Ranging - to the British Air Ministry. This got me to thinking that there are acronyms everywhere, especially when you count hidden ones.

On your ride, find an acronym or initialism, whether it be standalone or within other words. Here's a list of some examples: https://abbreviations.yourdictionary...accronyms.html

    Two things for this hunt:
    1. It has to be 3 letters or more
    2. You have to let us know what your acronym/initialism is and spell it out

    Happy hunting!

    NCO = non-commissioned officer

I thought this was going to be a tough one, but lots of options discovered on my ride today: “wks” in a “Seahawks Dr” street sign, “ent” in multiple signs for various “centers,” and “ATT” in Black Lives Matter” signs. This was the first one I saw so decided to go with it.
