In keeping with my theme of "bicycles depicted in public art," see cross-posting here for the Mount Vernon Recreation Center mural, as well as a portion of The Mural at Greenhill Properties, below:



I say "a portion" because the whole mural is the length of a football field. Read more here. The street address is 611 S. Pickett Street in Alexandria, although the mural is actually on the north side of the building, on Edsall Road.

A theme within a theme! [mention]komorebi [/mention] appears to have a winning strategy here to amass extra points!!! (+7 points for each set of wheels that my fading eyesight was able to discern)

“Our Lady of the Trail”? Actually a remnant of National Seminary School for women, in the Linden neighborhood of Silver Spring. At the head of Ireland Trail which leads west to Rock Creek Trail.

Created by Christopher Janney and installed in 2004, commissioned by Prince Georges County Art in Public Places program. This is an interactive piece, where sounds and lights appear when the "hands" are touched.

My real submission for the day. Reston has many, many pieces of public art. This one is my favorite. It's called Convergence and it's by the same sculptor who did the work featuring Bob Simon (Founder of Reston), Untold Stories. The sculptor's name is Zachary Oxman.
